Competitions and Rules

There are 5 HLCGA competitions organised for individual Juniors and one Inter-county competition. These are summarised below and more information about each competition can be found in the menu to the right of this page.

Alresford Cup Rules, Issue 1, February 2012

Hampshire Junior Girls Championship – handicap limit 20. This is a 36-hole medal championship. The winner of the scratch prize will be the Junior Champion and receives the Championship Cup.  The winner of the nett prize will receive the Handicap Cup.

Hampshire Junior Girls Douglas Cup – handicaps 21-36.  This is an 18-hole Stableford competition.  The winner will receive the Douglas Cup.

Hampshire Junior Girls  Summer Knockout – handicaps + to 36.  This is the junior girls summer knockout, open to all girls in Hampshire with a CONGU handicap of 36 and below.

Autumn Meeting – handicap limit 36
This is a 18-hole Stableford competition.  The winner receives the Dot Hayward Trophy.

Order of Merit (OOM) – handicap + to 36. Handicap and Gross trophies presented to the girls with the best scores from 7 competitions run at various clubs around the county.  See Fixtures page in the RH menu box for information about the qualifying competitions for this award.

Alresford Cup
Each year nine counties – Hampshire, Sussex, Kent, Surrey, Essex, Hertfordshire, Buckinghamshire, Bedfordshire and Dorset play for this prestigious trophy held at Alresford Golf Club.  The team consists of six junior girls who each play an individual full handicap Stableford round.  The best four scores count.
Each team consists of one player in handicap range 0-9, two players in handicap range 10—15, two players in handicap range 16—24, and one player in handicap range 25—30.
This team is selected by the County Junior Organiser.
