Bronze Championship (Handicaps 21 – 36)
18 hole stableford Tuesday morning 14th May 2019
On another glorious sunny May day, 89 ladies from across the region took to the gently undulating, parkland course at Hockley, prepared to the highest standard by course manager Doug Tate and his team. There are no water features at the Twyford course to impede players but the one obstacle to be faced on every hole are the slick, true, hard and undulating greens which make playing Hockley a true Championship test whatever the format played.
Indeed, few mastered them and those who did scored well but conditions proved tough and the light breeze was ever present. Past President of Hockley, Derek Sheppard acting as starter in the morning, was full of praise for the ladies he saw drive off the first, but when out his sight some play went downhill (although uphill on the course!) and the CSS for the day rose to 74.
Congratulations to all playing today and there will be a few handicap reductions especially for Monica Finlayson on her home course carding 40pts. She wins the Division One Heather Evans Candlestick and is pictured here with Pamela McQueen (on left), a former ladies’ captain at Brokenhurst Manor, who wins the Division Two Di Stock Candlestick with 35pts.
Here are our winners of Division 1 (handicaps 21-25) and Division 2 (26-36)
