Match Report: Hampshire Girls vs Sussex

Our first match of the season saw us welcome Louise and her Sussex girls to Meon Valley on a stunning hot Saturday afternoon, and fittingly the course looked fantastic.

Both teams had strong lineups of 7 girls with a chance to mix the experienced girls with 1 or 2 younger ones, Our Captain Beth Goater (Hockley) led us from the first tee and the pairings were sent out accordingly.

All the matches, bar Brooke MacArthur 7up on the turn, were very even and the lead kept changing throughout in each match.

Eventually the results and girls started drifting in, the match was tied at 3 each leaving young Gemma Burgess out on the course. Gemma closed her match out with a great par at the tough 17th winning her tie 2up to seal a victory for Hampshire 4-3.

All the matches were played in great spirit, and great to see our girls forming bonds with opposing players that they will undoubtably play against many times in the next few years.

The team:
Beth Goater (Hockley)
Amelia Williams (Royal Winchester)
Katie Biddlecombe (Romsey)
Olivia McTigue (Hayling)
Maisie Ord ( Blackmoor)
Gemma Burgess (Bishopswood)
Brooke MacArthur (Stoneham)
