AUTUMN MEETING DIV 2 2017
WEDNESDAY 13th SEPTEMBER
Cams Hall Golf Club
Aileen, the first storm of the autumn blew through last night and the course at Cams Hall Estate Golf Club was in pristine condition this morning for the 67 ladies playing in their Autumn Meeting . Andy George (head greenkeeper) had prepared the course for the Pro Am the previous day and his team were out early again cutting an ironing the greens. The sharp shower that came down at noon hopefully helped to make the greens a little more receptive although not welcome by those already out playing. A trial start time of 11.00am proved popular although it mean’t a finish just before sunset for those at the end !
Lady Captain Chris Simpson had done sterling work organising her ladies ball spotting with the aid of men’s captain Calvin Smith. Their joint charities made £212 from the raffle, so thank you ladies for your generosity.
Brave Brenda Bradford started everyone off and play was brisk – maybe the wind blew everyone around or maybe it was the lure of delicious food served up by chef Tim and his staff that made all keep up with the pace of play.
Thanks also go to General Manager Heather Tubbs, who was so helpful with the setting up of the day and her staff Sam, Ben, Kyran and bar manager Ellen.
We imagined that scoring would prove difficult in the blustery conditions and after a few more showers, scores started to come in confirming our predictions and with it the CSS rose to 73 and it was reductions only for all involved.
President Jackie Keay and County Captain Kay Walshe presented the winners with their trophies and prize vouchers and all went home just as light had faded at 7.45pm.
A big well done to all our prize winners and special congratulations to Wendy Collens (Army) who had the best nett score of the day and with it took the best Nett and Gross Aggregate prizes after a great round at Brokenhurst earlier in the year. Best gross score on the day was Vaneshrie Moodley (Royal Winchester) and runner up gross was Rosalind Godwin from host club, Cams Hall.
