A huge congratulations from everyone in Hampshire to the amazing Harry Ellis who battled back from four holes down with five to play, to win the 36-hole final of the 122nd Amateur Championship at Royal St George’s yesterday.

The 21 year old from Meon Valley followed in the footsteps of fellow Hampshire man Scott Gregory from Corhampton who lifted the title last year.

The win has secured Harry’s place at the 146th Open which takes place at Royal Birkdale next month as well as a place at next year’s US Open at Shinnecock Hills and, by tradition, an invitation to the 2018 Matsters Tournament.

Well done Harry! Hampshire will be watching and wishing you the very best of luck for all of these competitions.
