Championship: 36 HOLE MEDAL – handicaps plus to 20
(Holder Flora Keites)
(Nett holder Charlotte Dack)
The course looked in great condition even with Spring maintenance work having been carried out and the blossoming trees mixed with evergreens formed a wonderful backdrop to the bluebells beneath.
A cool breeze made scoring tricky for the morning Championship girls with difficult putting conditions prevailing. The CSS rose to 76 for the am round with Charlotte Dack and Hannah Dymott both scoring 75 nett.
It was a close 2nd round with two of the leading trio from the morning battling it out and both Bethany and Adrian returning two 80s. However, it was Bethany who took the championship by two shots from Adrian and Charlotte Dack retained her title as the Nett Champion.
Beth also won the Daily Telegraph competition with the best morning gross of 85 and Hannah Dymott won the under 14 division in same competition.
Congratulations also go to the 4 girls in the Championship who managed to reduce their handicaps namely Katie Biddlecombe (Romsey 11 to 10), Charlotte Dack (Meon Valley 11 to 10), Olivia McTigue (Hayling 15-14) and Hannah Dymott (Meon Valley (20-19). All bodes well for a competitive summer ahead.
Douglas cup:18 hole Stableford Handicaps 21 to 36
(Holder Emily Curwood)
The Douglas Cup is a stableford for girls with handicaps 21 – 36 and today 8 girls played in sunny but testing conditions. However, our winner Brooke Macarthur from Stoneham GC playing off 22 made it look easy with a magnificent 42 points and has been rewarded with a handicap cut to 20. Runner up was Gemma Burgess from Bishopswood with 33 points.
Congratulations to all playing and hope to see you at the Autumn Meeting on Thursday 26th October.
Our grateful thanks to Rowland Castle’s Ladies Captain Chris Bodey. Chris provided ball spotters, starters and chaperones and then organised a 6 hole fun competition for the girls in the afternoon.
