The Hampshire Girls – Jersey 2016 programme kicked off on Sunday 3rd April at the Royal Jersey Golf Club. This was the first of 6 sessions to be held during the coming year. 11 girls attended on the day, ranging from 9 to 16 years old, and a wide range of abilities. There are now 20 girls in total signed up to date. The session started on the putting green with the girls spending just under an hour working their way around 10 different putting games which focused upon balance, distance control and alignment amongst other things. This concluded in a team ‘knockout’ putting event. We then headed into the clubhouse for a quick drink, snack and chat about what is needed to make a good golfer. After discussion, the girls then wrote down their golf goals for the year which have been sealed, and which will be stored until our final session in October. We then headed out onto the golf course for a team Texas Scramble, with players of all abilities completing a number of holes. The day was a great success with girls looking forward to the next session in May.
